Words are very important to God. And God's words have always been very important to God's people. In fact, Jesus is called the "Living Word." Words can be very powerful and have a tremendous impact. See how God's Word describes itself and how it can affect us: "For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing… the soul and spirit…" Hebrews 4:12. Our Lord repeatedly tells us how precious and how valuable we are to Him. He continually says, "I love you!" to us. God, in some of the most familiar of all His words, reveals that He values us so much that He gave His own Son for us in John 3:16. Those words have touched who we are and how we live. Our words can also be powerful and have great effect. Just as the Word of God reveals the heart of our Lord, our words reveal our hearts. This week, will you use your words to powerfully touch people whom God has providentially placed in your life? Tell at least three persons: "I'm so glad you are in my life!", "You are precious to me" or "I really love you!" Although you can effectively do this through the written word, even better, look into someone's eyes and speak your loving words with heartfelt conviction. Your words are very important to them.
