The fundamental questions of life are: (1) Who am I? (2) Where did I come from? (3) Where am I going? and (4) How do I get there? At one time or another, everyone wonders if there is any purpose or meaning in life. These are the questions of a lost person, and that is the characterization of sin.

The Bible says, "You were dead, in your trespasses and sins" (Ephesians 2.1). A person is separated from God ("dead"), not knowing why God created him, and what God desires of him. The only way to discover purpose and meaning is to come to God, but one must first of all rid his tresspasses and sins.

The Bible defines sin as falling "short of the glory of God" (Roms. 3:23). Although it refers to the obvious sins like murder, immorality, and lying, it also includes sins of the tongue (e.g. gossip), heart (e.g. anger), and mind (e.g. evil thoughts). Basically, sin is not meeting God's standards of perfection.

You might ask, "Who can meet such high standards? There is no hope for anyone!" This is where the gospel, or "good news," comes in. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23). Jesus Christ has met the perfect, righteous standards. He offered His life as a sacrifice for our sins on the cross. God accepted Christ's sacrifice for us by raising Him from the dead. By God's grace, as we put our faith and trust in Him and receive Christ into our hearts by personal invitation, we are saved and have eternal life. "But as many as received Him to them He gave them the right to become children of God" John 1:12).

Won't you bow your head right now and pray a simple prayer to God? Your prayer can be patterned after the following:

"Dear Lord, I know that I have sinned against You. I confess my wrong doings, wrong attitudes, and wrong thoughts to You. Please forgive my sins and come into my heart. I believe that You died for me on the cross and that; God raised You from the dead. I open my heart to You. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus name I pray, Amen."
If you prayed such a prayer as this, or if you would like further information please do not hesitate to contact one of the pastor or deacons through the Church Office.
